During 2006-07, the Rochester Art Club invited members to collaborate with area poets in an experimental project, intended to be more about process than product. Teams were randomly paired and Kristin worked with Poet, Leah Zazulyer, over an eight-month period.

The Club hoped "to show how art - whether visual or literary - can help build consensus, compromise, or mutual understanding."

The Mola became the layering concept by which to develop the theme chosen early on by Leah and Kristin: COLLECTIONS AND CONNECTIONS.

Through numerous conversations and e-mails the theme became the basis for a three-part poem and this acrylic, stenciled and layered, painting.

"It is supposed to be an adventure for all of us - stretching us and our art - just a little beyond our comfort zones"
stated the Club's coordinators. Indeed it was!
